Paloma Faith - Koko

I went to see Paloma Faith and Josh Weller at Koko last monday. It was truly a feast for the eyes and ears. One of the highlights was watching Paloma gradually daub her white dress with coloured powder, transforming herself before our very eyes. And some lucky punter got to buy the reinvented garment at the merch stand after the gig. Beats badges. (Or does it...?)

Tiny Josh Weller at Koko

I think you'll all agree, Josh looks much better after the operation.

Perhaps this could be the direction of Paloma's next billboard campaign.

The ladies dominated the pool table that night.

I'm not sure if Simon and Jetta were aware I was taking this picture...

Joy by name, joy by nature.

Lucky I'm not a gambling man cos these hustlers would've cleaned me out.

Birthday Blog

It was my birthday recently and I was fortunate enough to share celebrations with the magnificently understated Max 'Bowlface' De Wardener and the irresistably effervescent Rowdy Superstar. Celebrations unexpectedly continued for several days taking in drinks at the BFI with the loved ones, the esteemed company of John Snow, more drinks and cake and dubious early 90s hip hop at The Pit Bar underneath the Old Vic, even more cake and good times with the family and dancing to early rock and roll as The Black Gardenia closed its doors for the final time. Thanks to everyone who got in amongst it and made it yet another memorable year. I love birthdays.

My birthday cake courtesy of Juliette Dalton. Disappeared in about 4seconds. Yum

Tom and Alice gave me these massive specs. A further addition to my african general look.

If you look closely you can see Paloma is weeping tiny gold tears of joy in the warm knowledge that there is someone else out there foolish enough to wear a native american head dress in public.

Ran into the lovely Shingi from Noisettes at The Black Gardenia. She's eating my necklace.

It's always reassuring to see that dance moves popularized in the early 90s are still thriving. Here Shingai proves that vogueing will never die.

Lewis and kitty try to conceal the fact that they're actually having a brilliant time at The Black Gardenia finale.

We were all treated to some impromptu burlesque.

A Warning To Us All...

On long drives to gigs we often like to break the mind-numbing tedium by listening to podcasts of Adam & Joe from their 6 Music show. It's very entertaining. This is us on the road when we're not listening to Adam & Joe (the coat-mountain thing is Dave)...

Photobucket
Below is a video Adam Buxton from Adam & Joe made that made us particularly happy. You can find more of this at http://www.youtube.com/user/adambuxton?blend=1&ob=4
